Adult Ballet has become a very popular recreational program at Dance Educators. The classes are based on the same teaching principles and physical exercises as a traditional syllabus program. Four progressive class levels allow each student to progress at his/her own pace from new beginner to second level, through Intermediate to Intermediate-Advanced work. Whether you are a first-timer, or an experienced ballet student, you can find an appropriate level for you to enjoy.

This term a new Contemporary/Choreography class has been added to the program. This class will offer a ballet-based warm-up and the constructing of a group choreography with the option of a stage performance.

Contemporary Ballet+Choreography

In the first ½ hour of this class, students warm up with a ballet barre while refining the fundamentals of ballet technique. The remaining hour is devoted to choreography, where the instructor, with input from the students, creates a 5-8 minute variation. Students are asked to bring a contemporary piece of music to the first class. One piece will be chosen and the choreographic process will begin by exploring ways that classical ballet technique can be stretched and modeled to create contemporary movements, as is so often the case in professional ballet today. The variation will be completed in the first few classes. The remaining classes will be devoted to rehearsing the variation and developing one’s artistic interpretation of the choreography.
